Since autumn is my favorite part of the year, I decided to paint a new personal artwork. Hope you like it.
Done in Photoshop and Maya in about 5 hours.
I watched a lot of Pixar movies lately and I decided to create a painting using a similar style. Stylization, bright colors, skewed contours, all that good stuff... The main source of inspiration was the wonderful art of Jeremy Vickery. He taught me a lot.
A personal painting I did when I finished a certain project and had a few days of free time. Base mesh created in Maya, then I painted over the render & overlayed various textures. Done in about 7 hours.
A new technique I've been trying out lately, full of harsh contours. I combined it with a fantasy world that is appealing yet creepy at the same time. The result is... interesting,I'd say. :-)
So, I decided this would be a good time to finish my old matte paintings. Gates of Primos are now more or less done... though I could work on this forever and I'd never feel satisfied. So I better post it.
Walls of Primos are impenetrable. Its gates are shut... The barbaric outside world may never enter the last outpost of humanity.
On April 18, 2010, I finished Star WarsShadows of the Past. I had a vision then, of armies of soldiers with lightsabers clashing in the setting sun. I spent the next few moths learning enough CG to make this happen. In December 2010 I announced Armies of the Fallenand I've been working on it ever since.
In summer 2011, due to computer failure, I lost 90% of my AotF data. I had to start again. In December 2011 I got to the same stage where I was in August. Then, when I finally started to export the shots, complications arose, I wasn't happy with the shots, the music, everything. A lot of back and forth work was required. But we kept on going. And I am now ready to present to you what I saw in my head two years ago.
A personal artwork. I always loved this color combination and I really wanted to do some fantasy, almost childish painting. Then I heard Tomas Zemler's Follow the Flying Squirrel and the idea was born. Hope you like the result.
What was originally meant to be just a quick ZBrush test to practice my skills, somehow ended up...this way. The original idea was to create a lizard head, but when I saw his expression, I just had to make him a gangster :-D Created in Zbrush and Photoshop.
In the precious free time I so long to have now I managed to paint several digital and matte painting studies. By no means masterpieces, but it was great fun making them.
I finally got myself my first tablet. I'm pretty satisfied with it though very clumsy at working with it at the moment. Anyway, I tried some digital painting with it. Somehow, I'm not really happy with how it came out...But anyway. Trial a error is the best teacher, huh? :-)
